I am a sweetheart when it comes to passing by strangers!
Always ramping up my energy and waving with both hands in a friendly manor as I usually say something like ‘hello, I hope you’re having a good day” as I continue in stride right on past them.
Today, I waved at a stranger as he did the introverts mouth scrunch and face nod while looking down and away as he past by on his scooter.
A short while later he passed me for a second time. This time coming from behind and zinging by at lightning speed.
As he approached slowly for the third time, now facing me, I noticed he was actually making eye contact.
He had a genuine curiosity in me this time, so I smiled big, waved again and said “hello for a second time”.
He mirrored my smile and nodded his head upwards toward the sky while looking at me this time. As he past, I said “I call dibs on the next lap around”. He instantly stopped, turned back toward me and said “you want to ride it?”
I paused, smiled even brighter saying “I sure do”.
He physically showed me the throttle lever underneath the right handle bar without saying a word about it and then said “hop on.”
I did just that! I zipped around and thought of how fun of an experience. Not only on the scooter but also the unique interaction with another human. For him to trust a stranger with his electric scooter in a high crime area, wow!
In that moment, all the stresses of the world were tuned out. I was present, I was engaged and I was happy.
This guy was definitely an introvert or really shy, but we interacted together.
We shared a moment of time and I am very grateful for it.
By the size of the smile on his face, his kind act of allowing a complete stranger to ride his electric scooter; made him just as happy as it did me.
The stress tip here is…. well stress tip lessons are…
*Be Present
*Avoid closing off to the passing world.
*Wave at people and smile!
*When life hands you a chance at a positive experience, take it!
Ride the scooter!
